Michael Twitty

Michael is Jewish, Black, and gay, and this “makes my soul’s recipe unique and powerful.” The award-winning author of 2018’s The Cooking Gene, Michael gave a popular TED talk, wrote the viral Open Letter to Paula Deen in response to her racism, and organized the Southern Discomfort Tour, which focused on food security, culinary justice, and activism. “I’m about cultural awareness, the interconnectedness of human beings, about how Americans are more related than they think they are, and about knowing what oppression does to people generationally. If you say love wins over all – then do it, mean it, live it.”
